Should maniquins be plus sized? You may be very surprised by my answer. Last month I was against Barbie gaining weight because I don't believe that we should be teaching children that unhealthy and overweight is the goal. But I have totally opposite feelings regarding voluptuous maniquins.
Plain and simple maniquins are used for promotional and advertisement purposes. If you want to sale you have to appeal to your audience. There is absolutely no way stores such as Lane Bryant or Torrid should be displaying clothing on sized 2 fake forms. But also stores that are geared towards women of all shapes and sizes should consider this...In the women's section they not only have merchandise for the slim and petite but also sizes 10-14. These larger sizes in the real world are considered to be average, the norm. So why then is this not reflected by the dressed up dolls? Should we really have to go specifically to the "plus size" section to see curvy clothing displayed? Is this a form of segregation? What are your thoughts?
